Here are the top four stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:

  1. The Cherokee Recreation & Parks program "Some Bunny Special" is a great opportunity for us to help those less fortunate celebrate Easter this year, and it starts today. According to the Georgia Family Connection Partnership, over 2,000 children in Cherokee County live at or below poverty levels, and it can be very difficult for families to provide treats when bills are at the forefront. You can help by bringing fully stocked Easter baskets, homemade or purchased, over to one of three collection locations until April 7. Donation locations are the Aquatic Center at 1200 Wellstar Way in Canton, The Buzz at 7345 Cumming Highway in Canton and the WREC at 7545 Main Street, Building 200 in Woodstock. You can see some great basket content suggestions at the link. (Cherokee County Communications Division)
  2. If you're an entrepreneur living in Cherokee County, there are resources for you through the Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED). From educational meetings to networking events to a co-working space downtown and lots in between, they are a great support to local businesses. One of their ongoing events, Fresh Start Mornings, is free and open to the public - it meets today at The Circuit, 1 Innovation Way in Woodstock, and it's a chance to receive feedback, learn and make connections with other locals. The networking starts at 9 a.m., and the scheduled program starts at 9:15 a.m. Today's meeting will feature three speakers working in the film industry, Kim Mross of All Things Wild North Georgia, Kelly Sirois of Atlanta Hollywood Acting Studios and Molly Mercer, Camera Ready Liaison at COED. (All Events and Cherokee Office of Economic Development)
  3. The Cherokee County Aquatic Center has announced its next Dive In Movie night. It will be showing "Free Willy" on March 31, and registration is open until March 24 at 5 p.m. You'll watch the movie on their inflatable screen while you relax in the water. You can bring your own float, but it must have a diameter of 40 inches or less. Everyone must be able to swim and children in life jackets must be with arm's reach of a parent. For more information, call 678-880-4760. You can register here. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks)
  4. Believe it or not, it's time to start thinking about camp for the kids. Spring break is April 3 - 7 this year, and the summer break starts on May 25. Check out area options before they fill up, one great day camp to consider is the Woodstock Arts Spring Break Camp. It runs Monday - Friday during spring break, and it's for ages 8 - 12. They'll be drawing, painting, sculpting, dancing, singing, acting and participating in improv. So fun! You can see a full listing of Woodstock Arts' classes, camps, exhibits and upcoming events at the link. (Woodstock Arts)

  • There are a couple things going on this week over at Reformation Brewery for the beer lovers in town. Starting Friday, they'll have their green, strawberry kiwi "Oh Yeah," a "4.7% bright kettle-sour." You can grab some to bring home or enjoy it at the brewery. On Saturday, it's Georgia Beer Day at participating breweries around the state. Brought to you by Georgia Craft Brewers Guild (GCBG), there's special, limited edition glassware you can bring home - with $1 of each glass benefitting GCBG and member breweries. Reformation is at 105 Elm Street, and the fun starts at noon. (Reformation Brewery via Facebook)
