Steve Martin Production Coming To Elm Street Stage
This long running Off Broadway witty comedy places Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian cafe prior to the physics transformation.

From Elm Street Arts: Elm Street Cultural Arts Village is excited to present the award-winning play, Picasso at the Lapin Agile written by none other than Steven Martin (yes, that Steve Martin).
This long running Off Broadway witty comedy places Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian cafe in 1904, just before the renowned scientist transformed physics with his theory of relativity and the celebrated painter set the art world afire with cubism. In his first comedy for the stage, Steve Martin plays fast and loose with fact, fame, and fortune as these two geniuses muse on the century’s achievements and prospects, this results in hilariously exploring serious questions of love, happiness and the meaning of life; they are rich with equal parts of pain and slapstick humor, torment and wit. “I’m excited to share this quick, fast-paced comedy with Woodstock,” states Tyler Hayes, director of Picasso at the Lapin Agile. “This quick-witted play explores some of the more basic human experiences, while taking a look into the future and beyond. Einstein and Picasso, arguably two of the greatest minds of the twentieth century, join together in a bar, with a surprise guest at the end! You don’t want to miss it.” Elm Street’s Associate Artistic Director, Siobhan Brumbelow said, “This comedy has Steve Martin’s goofy- ness written all over it, once you think you know what’s going on he changes it up on you in the funniest of ways!”
In addition to regular performance times, Elm Street will be offering a variety of Community Engagement activities surrounding this production.
