Summer Special: Barracudas Versus Lightning

The Bradshaw Farm Barracudas won the CSSA Division Crown in 2013 and 2014

If you’ve ever been to a Cherokee Summer Swim Association meet on a sweltering…or stormy…Thursday night in June, you know some of the most exciting action comes in the relay races. That was true-to-form once again when the Bradshaw Farm Barracudas hosted the Laurel Brooke Lightning in the Barracudas’ fourth meet of summer 2015. The meet’s freestyle and medley relays across all age groups were fast and furious and included some of the closest races of the night. When the final relay was contested, the Barracudas had managed to take 19 of 22 relay events on this night...though the Lightning was victorious in the Boys 6 & under 100 Freestyle Relay, Boys 9-10 100 Freestyle Relay and the Boys 15-18 200 Freestyle Relay.

The final score for the meet was Bradshaw Farm 553, Laurel Brooke 372.

In the individual swimming events, the top Barracuda swimmers of the meet were Jack Garnham, winner of Boys 15-18 100 IM, 50 Backstroke & 50 Butterfly… Kamryn Carter, who scored first place finishes in Girls 15-18 100 IM, 50 Backstroke & 50 Butterfly…Grant Davis, winner of Boys 11-12 100 Free, 100 IM & 50 Backstroke…Morgan Carter, for winning Girls 11-12 50 Breast, 100 IM & 50 Butterfly… Laurel Blase, who topped the Girls 9-10 50 Free, 25 Backstroke & 25 Butterfly and Lainey Blase, winner of Girls 7-8 50 Freestyle, 100 IM & 25 Butterfly.

Emma Gelatt – Girls 13-14 100 Freestyle & 50 Freestyle… Jordan Weems – Girls 13/14 100 IM & 50 Backstroke…Addy Blalock for Girls 6 & under 25 Freestyle & 25 Backstroke and Nick Janflone for Boys 13-14 50 Breaststroke & 50 Backstroke.
