“Millie is one of those shows that is your classic, big, fun musical,” said Siobhan Brumbelow, director of the show and staff member at Elm Street. “This has been one of my all-time favorite musicals and I really think the community will enjoy it.”

The musical tells the story of young Millie Dillmount who moves to New York City in search of a new life. The show is a high-spirited journey musical romp that will have everyone dancing the Charleston.

“What is particularly exciting about this show is the cast in it,” Operations Director Christopher Brazelton said. “We have some of our regulars like Lauren Bowling (Little Women, Into the Woods) or Jeremy Cain (Godspell, Into the Woods, Christams Carol) and then we have some old veterans returning the Elm Street, like Andrew Berardi, Nick Morret and Jillian Melko, who have recently moved back to Atlanta and jumped right back in the fun. Really, the cast from top to bottom has great talent.”

The 1920s couldn’t be complete without making a statement, specifically a fashion statement and Kim Adams, the costume designer for the show, has been working non-stop to make that statement.

“The 20s are so fun, and we wanted to bring the flappers back into full swing,” she said.

The scenic team, with Brad Leak looks to bring a wild 1920s New York to life, who stated that the challenge of a New York scene isn’t the ability to recognize it, but feel or the atmosphere that is hard to capture.

Taking part in downtown Woodstock’s Friday Night Live’s Roaring 20s Night theme, people have seen some of the cast dancing and singing already, but buzz about town is how great the show will be and entertaining to just about any age.

Shows will take place at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays at the Chambers at City Center auditorium, which is at 8534 Main Street in Woodstock.

The May 15 show will have an opening night reception following for anyone with ticket to enjoy complimentary hors’ d’oeuvres and beverages. Group rates are available upon request.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Senior and student rates are available. More information and to inquire about tickets visit elmstreetarts.org or call 678-494-4251.
