Traffic Alert: Lane Closures Planned For I-575 in Cherokee

The Georgia Department of Transportation is warning motorists to expect delays along the interstates, as it has a slew of road projects lined up this weekend.

In our area, motorists should prepare for one northbound and one southbound lane closure along I-575 between Bells Ferry Road and S.R. 92 in Woodstock nightly from 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23.

The Express Lanes project will also require a traffic detour along I-75 southbound at the Canton Road Connector (see the attached map for details).

Canton Road Connector traffic traveling I-75 southbound will be directed to take the I-75 northbound ramp to travel northbound to Barrett Parkway (Exit 269).

Traffic will then be directed to turn left on Barrett Parkway followed by another left to then enter I-75 Southbound via the ramp from Barrett Parkway. The detour will take place from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m, Saturday

Additionally, one northbound and one southbound lane will close on I-75 between Chastain Road and Wade Green Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday.

Motorists are asked to slow down and proceed with caution, as workers will be in close proximity to the roadway.
