Hello all! Nina here with your Wednesday edition of the Woodstock-Towne Lake Daily, filled with all the things you need to know about what's going on in town. I'll get right to it.

Here are the top three stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:

  1. On the first and third Tuesday of every month, Vingenzo's Italian Restaurant on Main Street offers free hot meals to those in need. The meals are distributed by volunteers from 4 to 6 p.m. via curbside pickup. In an interview, Chef Michale Bologna explained the heart behind the program with a quote from his father, "...if you stay in the food business, you'll never be rich. But you'll always have food on the table for your family." The program has helped many in our community for the past two years and was started during the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic. Donations are also accepted, and all of the donated funds will be put towards purchasing food for the Meals for Woodstock program. (WSB-TV)
  2. A Cherokee County man has been found guilty on charges of attempting to commit child molestation and attempting to pander a person under the age of 18. The charges against Jerome Walker III of Canton originated in November 2019 when he made plans to meet a person that he met on an escort site. Walker thought the child was 14 when he made those plans, but it wasn't actually a child, it was an undercover police officer. Walker was arrested at the planned meet-up site in Woodstock. He was sentenced to 10 years, five of which will be served in prison followed by five years of probation. (Yahoo)
  3. Taste of Woodstock is coming soon! On September 15 on the Event Green downtown, from 4:30 to 9 p.m., grab some tickets and enjoy the delicious food our city has to offer. Some of the participants this year are Ipp's Pastaria & Bar, Freight Kitchen & Tap, Dulce Gelato and Partners II Pizza. Once you're done, vote for your favorite. The event proceeds go towards the Woodstock High School Band Boosters. (Taste of Woodstock)

  • The Cherokee County School District has named Nothing Bundt Cakes an E.T. Booth Middle School 2022 Partner of the Year. The company brings treats to the school and provides coupons and prizes for staff appreciation. (CCSD Press Release)
