The fatal accident wasn’t the only tragedy to happen to the family on Sunday. Ball Ground resident Mike Dean, 69, a family member of Courtney Reece, was at a location near the crash scene when he collapsed from an apparent heart attack, said Cherokee Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker.
Baker said sheriff’s deputies started CPR until paramedics arrived. Dean was transported to Northside Hospital-Cherokee where he later died, he added. Funeral services for Dean will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 at South Canton Funeral Home in Canton.
It’s unclear where the accident took place on Highway 108, as the investigation not complete, said spokesperson Franka Young. Young did state charges are pending in the crash.
