Woman, 43, Killed When SUV Strikes Tree

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident, which occurred on Towne Lake Parkway east of Running Deer Parkway.

A 43-year-old woman was killed in a single vehicle accident Tuesday evening in Woodstock.

According to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office’s press release, deputies were dispatched to the accident just after 7 p.m. Jan. 20 on Towne Lake Parkway just east of Running Deer Parkway.

A black Lexus SUV was traveling westbound when it “collided with a tree in the median,” sheriff’s office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and there were no other passengers in the vehicle, Baker stated.

“It appears the driver was not wearing a seatbelt,” Baker said, adding the victim’s name is not being released at this time.

According to Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson Tim Cavender, witnesses reported “the car was being driven erratically on the highway before crossing the road and into the median.”

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office’s Traffic Enforcement Unit.
