Woman, Baby Found Dead; No Foul Play Suspected: Cops
The Cherokee Sheriff's Office said deputies made the discovery Tuesday at a home of Kellogg Creek Road.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — A woman and an infant were found dead Tuesday inside a home in southwestern Cherokee County, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office were dispatched July 17 to a home in the 2900 block of Cedar Mill Crossing in unincorporated Acworth at the request of a family member "due to the lack of contact" with a 31-year-old woman at the home.
Cedar Mill Crossing is located off Kellogg Creek Road near Galts Ferry Road. Deputies made entry and found the woman, identified as Holly Whitley, and an infant dead inside the home, said sheriff's office spokesperson Sgt. Lauren Denson.

A two-year-old female toddler was also found inside the residence. The sheriff's office said the older child was unharmed and in stable condition. No foul play is suspected at this time, but the investigation remains active, Sgt. Denson added.
The sheriff's office has not said if the woman and two children are related. Both bodies have been transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy. Sgt. Denson said no other details will be available until the agency releases the findings. This is a developing story, so return to Patch for updates.
