Woodstock 4th of July Parade Float Winners Announced

The city's parade had more than 90 float entries.

WOODSTOCK, GA — The city of Woodstock commemorated Independence Day with its July 4th Spectacular events, which was celebrated in style with great weather and lots of smiling faces.

Downtown Woodstock was the site of the city's annual parade, which featured more than 90 float entries and a very large and energized crowd to cheer them on. The 2018 float winners were:

Most Original Float: Trail Life USA Troop 0184

  • Their float featured all the outdoor activities that boys love to do, including kayaking, archery, hiking, camping, cycling, and pinewood derbies.

Best Holiday Float: Let’s Pretend Publishing

  • Their patriotic themed float, including the flags from U.S. military branches, made one proud to be an American. Always a favorite with the crowd and judges.

People’s Choice Award: The Home Depot – Woodstock

  • Thank you, Home Depot – Woodstock, for bringing Snoopy and Woodstock to share their patriotic spirit with our crowds. Their huge re-creation of the U.S. Constitution was what the day was all about.

History & Heritage Award: Jim Cook

  • Everyone enjoyed this tribute to the U.S. Army’s Golden Knights Parachute Team with the restored fuselage of a 1971 Fokker F-27 Friendship, the aircraft flown by the Knights and soon to be retired.

The 2018 float winners will be recognized at the start of the Woodstock City Council's July 9 meeting. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Chambers at City Center. This year's float judges were Val and Shaun Harty, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board members; and Marilyn Leonard, wife of former Councilman Bud Leonard.
