Woodstock Begins Fire Hydrant Maintenance
The fire department for the City of Woodstock will begin maintenance on fire hydrants in the area tomorrow, April 11th.

WOODSTOCK-TOWNE LAKE, GA - From the Woodstock Fire Department: The Woodstock Fire Department will be performing fire hydrant maintenance from April 10, 2018 through June 10, 2018. Residents in the City of Woodstock may notice some temporary discoloration in the water.
The discoloration of water will not harm an individual, although it may stain light colored clothing. The discoloration is the result of sediment that is always present in waterlines being “stirred up” during hydrant testing. As part of testing procedures, the Fire Department will flow each hydrant until the water is clear, however smaller water lines that lead to each house may still have cloudy water. This condition may be remedied by flowing water from the tap until it is clear.
Fire hydrant maintenance is important in order to ensure the City has properly working hydrants. The Fire Department performs this maintenance each year. The hydrants are painted, flowed and greased. This procedure is a component of the I.S.O. (Insurance Service Office) rating. The City of Woodstock currently has a rating of 1 which is the best possible rating. A Rating of 10 is least desirable.
