Woodstock Christmas Parade Returns With New Route
The annual Parade of Lights hosted by the city of Woodstock will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6.

The Woodstock Christmas Jubilee and Parade of Lights will not only have a new starting and ending point, but it will also come with an entirely new route.
Saturday’s annual parade will now begin and end at Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Road.
The new route will have parade marchers go:

- South on Rope Mill and onto Main Street;
- Right onto Towne Lake Parkway;
- Left onto Mill Street;
- Right onto Market Street;
- Left onto Fowler Street;
- Left onto Main Street and continue onto Rope Mill Road where the parade will end at the school.
Woodstock was forced to make the change since its typical starting part — the parking lot of the old Walmart building on Highway 92 at Main Street — will be off limits, as Sam’s Club will soon start construction to renovate the building for use.
“The parade route is just under two miles long, so we are encouraging parade participants to utilize floats and vehicles in the parade,” Pooser stated. “The Christmas parade, by design, is a lighted, night time parade, so we’re hoping for lighted floats.”

While the new route is longer, it will allow more residents to view the parade at various points throughout downtown. Additionally, the parade keeps Dupree Road open, so motorists can use the street to detour around Main Street.
The parade will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by the annual Christmas Jubilee celebration at the Park at City Center. Roads affected by the parade route will close at 5:15 p.m. and will reopen around 7 p.m.
