Woodstock Employee Gains Parks And Recreation Certification

Marybeth Stockdale, the city's special events coordinator, is among 5,000 people in the field who have reached this level of expertise.

WOODSTOCK, GA — Woodstock Special Events Coordinator Marybeth Stockdale has become a certified parks and recreation professional, placing her among 5,000 people in the field who have achieved this level of expertise.

The certification process is done through the National Recreation and Park Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of public parks, recreation and conversation.

The requirements and examinations to attain the CPRP certification are approved by a committee of subject matter experts who also assess the core knowledge of job-related tasks of the individual (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. “The CPRP certification is the national standard for all parks and recreation professionals who want to be at the forefront of their profession," said Woodstock Parks and Recreation Director Preston Pooser, who also is a certified parks and recreation executive. "Attaining the CPRP designation shows that Marybeth has met education and experience qualifications, and illustrates her commitment to the profession as well as her knowledge and understanding of key concepts within the field of parks and recreation. I am extremely proud of Marybeth for attaining her CPRP certification. She is an invaluable asset to the Woodstock Parks and Recreation Department and the city of Woodstock."

The Woodstock Parks and Recreation Department hosts a variety of special events year-round, including concerts at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Amphitheater, ceremonies at the Park at City Center and holiday parades and festivals.
