Woodstock Firefighters Conduct Smoke Alarm Blitz
The Woodstock Fire Department visited a senior living community in order to conduct a Smoke Alarm Blitz to test for safety.

WOODSTOCK-TOWNE LAKE, GA - From the Woodstock Fire Department: Woodstock Fire Department, in partnership with Home Depot employees, will visit 67 homes today in The Cottages of Woodstock; a senior living community with residents 55 years of age and up.
This community outreach initiative, which is taking place from 9:00 a.m. – approximately 12:00 p.m. today, “is a proactive approach to ensuring residents have working smoke alarms as well as bring awareness to the
importance of properly working smoke alarms” says Fire Sergeant George Williams. “Some of these citizens
don’t have younger family members nearby and have no way to exchange old or out dated smoke alarms. So,
we go in and change batteries and replace smoke alarms where needed” Sgt. Williams added.
Woodstock Fire Department is committed to the safety of the citizens and businesses of Woodstock. Through
a partnership with Home Depot located on Highway 92 and the Home Depot located on Sixes Road, Smoke
Alarm Blitz events take place within the community multiple times a year.
