Here are the top five stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:
- A Woodstock home was struck by lightning and caught fire late Monday evening. The home in the Deer Run neighborhood was damaged by the fire but no injuries were reported. (Cherokee Tribune Ledger News)
- New homes have been listed for sale in the Woodstock-Towne Lake area. Available properties range from a 1,870 sq. ft., 3 beds, 2.5 bath home for $349,900 to a $620,000 home with 5 beds, 3.5 baths, and 3,482 sq. ft. (Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch)
- The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners is holding public hearings on Jul. 19 at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The public hearings are on the tax rate to fund the county's 2023 budget which the board is expected to adopt the three millage rates at the 6:00 p.m. meeting. - Authorities have identified the woman who was killed in a motorcycle crash near Woodstock on Jul. 4. Passenger Jennifer Bauer, 38, of Marietta, died from her injuries sustained in the motorcycle crash. The crash is under investigation. (Cherokee Tribune Ledger News)
- A man has been arrested after shooting another at the intersection of Ga. 92 and Woodstock Road due to a road rage incident. Wade McEwan, 61, of Acworth, shot the 25-year-old victim after he attempted to pass him several times but was blocked by McEwan. McEwan has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, and reckless driving. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution - Cherokee County)
