Woodstock To Host Annual Memorial Day Ceremony
The city's event will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28 at the Park at City Center.

WOODSTOCK, GA — The city of Woodstock on Memorial Day will host its annual ceremony honoring service men and women who've made the ultimate sacrifice.
Woodstock's Memorial Day ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28 at the Park at City Center. The event will be held in conjunction with the American Legion Post 316, Marine Corps League Detachment 1311, Warriors Watch Riders and other area veterans organizations.
Highlights of the city's event include the POW/MIA remembrance, reading of the Woodstock Honor Roll, placing of the memorial wreath and a dove release, rifle honors and the playing of "Taps."

A performance by the New Horizons Concert Band will take place, and bagpiper Brigadier General Richard P. McPhee will make an appearance. The ceremony is free and open to the public.

In Canton, the Georgia National Cemetery will also hold a Memorial Day Program. That event kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26. Before the program, a Knights of Columbus mass will take place at 7:30 a.m. and the Scout Gravesite flag placement will get underway at 9 a.m.
Please note that if you plan to attend Saturday's event, organizers ask that you carpool and arrive early due to parking constraints. Folding chairs, blankets and weather-related items -- umbrellas, hats, hand fans, and water -- are recommended items to bring to enjoy the ceremony. The Georgia National Cemetery is located at 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive in Canton.
