Woodstock Imposes Moratorium on Adult Entertainment Stores

The moratorium will give the city time to review and propose any revisions to its ordinance.

The city of Woodstock recently took the first step in its mission to overhaul an ordinance regulating adult entertainment establishments in its jurisdiction.

That step involves the City Council unanimously voting to impose a moratorium on the licensing and acceptance of applications for adult entertainment stores and establishments selling sex toys.

The ordinance was approved at the Nov. 9 council meeting following an executive session. Council member Liz Baxter was not present.

The moratorium will run through Jan. 26, 2016, and will give city staff time to study the ordinance and bring back any revisions to city leaders for adoption, City Manager Jeff Moon said.
