Woodstock K9 Unit Shows Off Skills at Narcotic Dog Conference
The unit participated in the 5th annual National Narcotic Detector Dog Association Conference held in Perry.

The Woodstock Police Department’s K9 Unit took home various honors during the fifth annual National Narcotic Detector Dog Association Conference.
Held in Perry Nov. 17-20, the agency’s K9 Unit was re-certified and won other awards for demonstrating excellence in various areas.
Woodstock police Sgt. Shane Collie and K9 Mann received second place in explosive detection. Officer Jake Cash and K9 Debo received first place in obedience and third place in narcotics detection.

A total of 50 teams were in attendance from throughout the southeast.
“We take great pride in our training and dedicate ourselves to serving the city, its businesses, citizens, and visitors, to the best of our ability,” said Sgt. Collie, who also serves as the police department’s supervisor of special operations. “K9 Debo, K9 Mann, and K9 Dugan also take great pride in their service. This training and dedication was recognized on a National platform and we hope we made the city of Woodstock proud just as our partners made us proud.”

The annual conference, hosted by Dooly County and Houston County Sheriff’s Office, trains as well as certifies police service dogs in narcotic detection, utility/tracking/trailing and explosive detection. As part of the conference, a closing banquet was held in which handlers and their K9s were recognized for excellence in their field of expertise.
