Woodstock Man, 21, Charged With Killing Mother

Cherokee sheriff's investigators said Michael Jacobs called 911 and told dispatchers "he had killed his mother during a domestic dispute."

Woodstock, GA -- A Woodstock resident is being held without bond on charges he fatally stabbed his mother Sunday evening.

Michael Jacobs, 21, is charged with felony murder and murder with malice, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies with the agency were dispatched around 9 p.m. Jan. 3 to the Brooke Mill Apartments on Downsby Lane after Jacobs allegedly told dispatchers “he had killed his mother during a domestic dispute,” sheriff’s office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said.

Downsby Lane is located off Highway 92 west of Fitchburg Drive, just outside the Woodstock city limits.

Deputies arrived at the apartment unit and found Jacobs as well as his mother, 54-year-old Melony Jacobs, dead inside the apartment.

Baker said the victim appeared to have multiple stab wounds to her body. Michael Jacobs was transported to Northside Hospital-Cherokee for treatment to injuries in his hands and later booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.

Baker said Jacobs will make his first court appearance at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the courtroom inside the jail.
