Cobb County police officers were dispatched to the call around 7:53 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9 on George Busbee Parkway at Frey Road.

Investigators say Katie Swinehamer was crossing Busbee Parkway in a northerly direction in a marked crosswalk.

As she was crossing the left eastbound lane of travel, the driver of a black 2012 Chevrolet Avalance ”made a left turn from southbound Frey Road onto eastbound George Busbee Parkway,” Cobb police said.

Swinehamer was hit by the truck, which was driven by Marcus, the agency said.

Swinehamer was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, and she was later pronounced dead due to the injuries she sustained in the collision.
