Woodstock Mayor To Seek Re-Election
Donnie Henriques has served as the city's mayor since 2006.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Woodstock Mayor Donnie Henriques has announced he will seek a fourth term as mayor of Cherokee County's largest city.
Henriques made the announcement during Friday morning's Main Street Buzz.
When asked why he's running for re-election, Henriques told Patch he has "unfinished" business he'd like to tackle over the next four years.

Those items include constructing a parking deck in downtown Woodstock, making sure the Towne Lake Parkway-Arnold Mill Road traffic improvements are implemented and working to get the proposed Arnold Mill Road bypass off the ground.
The Arnold Mill Road bypass would construct a new road that would run northwest from its intersection with Neese Road to Main Street near Ridgewalk Parkway.

“I hate to leave unfinished business," he said.
Henriques told Patch he feels "really good" about how far Woodstock has come and the city's future. For example, when the city kicked off its Friday Night Live series in 2006, it took some convincing to encourage the few businesses on the "old side" of Main Street to stay open after 5 p.m.
Fast forward 11 years later, "you can now see what it's grown to," the mayor added.
Henriques was first elected as the City Council member for the Ward 6 seat when it was created in 1999. He was elected to his first term as mayor in 2005 and was re-elected in 2009 and 2013.
His current term expires Dec. 31, 2017. Woodstock's municipal election will be held Nov. 7. Along with the office of mayor, Wards 1, 3 and 5 are all up for re-election. Those seats are held by Warren Johnson, Bob Mueller and Bud Leonard, respectively.
Qualifying dates and times will be announced later in the year.
