WOODSTOCK, GA — A mother from Woodstock was charged with several counts of child abuse and kidnapping after dangerously taking her own son.

At 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Cherokee Sheriff's deputies responded to a residence on Jasmine Court in Woodstock after receiving reports a mother had forcibly taken her 11-year-old son at knife point, handcuffed the child and was possibly fleeing the state.

Deputies were talking with the child's father by phone who had received the information from the son. The father arrived at the house and said that he had been in contact with both the son and the wife and was unable to convince her to return home. He felt she was fleeing to Louisiana where she had family. The father also said he was able to track a cell phone in the wife's vehicle.
