Woodstock Names First Public Information Officer

Brittany Duncan's first day in her new role will be Monday, Aug. 22.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- A familiar face at the Woodstock Police Department will soon become more recognizable to city residents.

That's because the city of Woodstock has tapped Brittany Duncan to serve as its first-ever public information officer.

Duncan currently is the administrative coordinator, public safety spokesperson and reserve officer with the police department. Her first day juggling the expanded duties will be Monday, Aug. 22, the city said.

Duncan received her bachelor's degree in government (minor in legal studies) from Berry College. She also received a paralegal certificate from Kennesaw State University and her police officer certification at Reinhardt University's Public Safety Academy.

Duncan was recently chosen as one of Cherokee County's Top 10 in 10, a class of 2015 member of Leadership Cherokee, a recipient of the Tessa Basford Community Service Award and was named Civilian of the Year for the Woodstock Police Department in 2009 and 2010.

"Her love for her community and her job is evident through her participation and eagerness to serve through various organizations and charities," said City Manager Jeff Moon. "I am very excited to have Ms. Duncan on our team and look forward to her enhancing and growing our communication effort throughout the city."
