Woodstock Police Department Unveils New Look
Buster, a new mascot for the Woodstock Police Department, was also sworn into office during Monday's City Council meeting.
WOODSTOCK, GA -- No, those officers in navy blue uniforms around Woodstock are not visitors from another agency. Those are, in fact, the public servants with your police department who are sporting a new look to reflect its role as a progressive, growing agency in Cherokee County.
The new look was introduced at Monday's City Council meeting and, along with the uniforms, includes a new department patch, vehicle design and patrol vehicles that solidifies the department's reputation as a "leading law enforcement agency," it said.
The new patch symbolizes a merging of law enforcement profession traditions with modern style and the Woodstock Police Department's core values (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app).

Its main focal point is an overlooking bald eagle perched upon a banner displaying "With Honor and Courage" above a shield, showcasing the agency's commitment to American values, the state of Georgia, the city and to the law enforcement profession -- backed by olive branches signifying its commitment to peace. Surrounding the center is the departmental core values of integrity, professionalism, service and teamwork.
The new uniform -- vastly different from the baby blue button-down shirt and dark blue trousers -- is all navy, that reflects the department's professional image and its focus on the comfort of the officers. The new uniform is designed to "lessen stress to the lower back and adds features to reduce fatigue, allowing officers to perform their duties more effectively," the police department added.

The new vehicle graphics are a modern approach to increase officer visibility. While on patrol and in responding to emergencies, the new vehicle graphics adds a recognizable design that incorporates the new patch and increased reflective markings.

Later this year, the police department will phase in the 2018 Ford Explorer Interceptor as a patrol vehicle. The increased cabin space and better visibility provided by the vehicle will assist officers as they carry out their duties.
“The new brand identity is a reflection of our department: professional, progressive, community-focused and service-oriented," said Police Chief Calvin Moss. "I look forward the next chapter in WPD's uniform history."
On a lighter note, Buster, the new mascot for the Woodstock Police Department, was sworn in during Monday's council meeting. Be sure to look for Buster at future city events.
