Woodstock Police Explorers Bring Home First Place Trophies

They got first place in the "Robbery in Progress" and "Felony Traffic Stop" events.

From the City of Woodstock: Woodstock Police Explorer Post 1609 joined with 102 other law enforcement agencies to compete at the 44th annual Winterfest Conference held in Gatlinburg, TN on February 9-11. And, on Sunday, they returned home to Woodstock with two first place trophies.

WPD Explorer Post 1609 competed in several events and took home 1st place in Robbery in Progress event and 1st place in Felony Traffic Stop event. The 2018 Winterfest Conference, an annual event which allows Law Enforcement Explorer Posts to compete amongst other Posts in skills learned from their respective agency, is hosted by Northeast Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America and offers competitive events such as: Uniform Inspection, Crime Scene Investigation, Robbery in Progress, Domestic Violence, Officer Survival, Felony Traffic Stop, and more. This year was the largest event yet and saw 3,500 Explorers from 17 states.

The Woodstock Police Explorer Post 1609 is an official program of the Boy Scouts of America/Exploring and is designed to teach young men and women, ages 14-20, what a career in law enforcement entails.
