Woodstock Proclaims July 1 As Set Beer Free Day
The proclamation celebrates the success of Reformation Brewery.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- The city of Woodstock is getting behind the movement to bring more beer choices to consumers on the market.
Mayor Donnie Henriques signed a proclamation declaring July 1 as Set Beer Free Day in the city, an act that also praises Woodstock-based Reformation Brewery's innovation, growth, community impact and vision.
“We’re humbled and surprised by this honor,” said Reformation Brewery CEO Spencer Nix. “We see this as an opportunity to explain what ‘set beer free’ means to us and to the communities that enjoy our beer.”

Reformation Brewery, according to the proclamation, has grown from producing 500 barrels per year in 2013 to 4,500 barrels on an annual basis. The organization has also "invested in innovation and sustainability in brewing and manufacturing processes, and has become a regional tourism destination through visitors to the Keeping Room," the proclamation reads.
It also cites the company's recognition by the state as one of Georgia's Small Business Rockstar Award winners, a honor bestowed upon the company in February.

A website elaborating on the Set Beer Free movement encourages visitors to “drink well” and “demand better” by drinking beer from their local brewery, as well as contacting their local representatives and asking them to advocate for more jobs and more freedom for brewers in the state.
While details for the inaugural celebration have yet to be announced, Nix says it’s easy for anyone to celebrate the occasion.
“Consumers have a powerful voice," Nix said. "Every time you order a locally made beer from your neighborhood taps, or pick up a sixpack from your local retailer, you advocate for small, independent beer producers. We hope this day will be an annual cause for celebration, advocacy and change.”
