Woodstock Recognized For Excellence In Financial Reporting

The city was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association.

WOODSTOCK, GA — The city of Woodstock has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association.

The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. It's the 25th year the city of Woodstock has been awarded with the honor.

“I am pleased that we received this award again this year," said Mayor Donnie Henriques. "We strive hard to make sure that the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report meets all of the requirements to achieve this award. Providing accurate financial information to the public is a fundamental necessity of a transparent local government."

The Woodstock Finance Department, led by Chief Financial Officer Robert J. Porche, is primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a major professional association servicing the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners.

It provides top quality publications, training programs, services, and products designed to enhance the skills and performance of those responsible for government finance policy and management. The association is headquartered in Chicago and has offices in Washington D.C.
