Hello, everybody. I'm back in your inbox this morning with the most important things happening in Woodstock-Towne Lake. I'll get right to it.
First, today's weather:
A shower and thunderstorm. High: 88 Low: 70.
Here are the top five stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:
- Three people are headed to prison for their part in a Cherokee County meth trafficking ring. 52-year-old James Daniel O'Bryant, 57-year-old Robert Joseph Fowler, and 46-year-old Heather Elizabeth Trott, all from Woodstock, have been found guilty and sentenced for trafficking meth in Cherokee County. The trio was arrested in early 2021 after finding various amounts of methamphetamine in their cars and homes. (WSB Atlanta)
- The July 4th Spectacular Parade in Downtown Woodstock begins at 10 a.m. on Monday (Jul. 4) at Woodstock Elementary School. The parade will travel down Rope Mill Road to Main Street, then south on Main Street through downtown Woodstock to the Sam's Club near Highway 92. - The Cherokee Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Administration are reminding small businesses in Cherokee County to apply for working capital loans before the Jul. 13 deadline. This disaster loan program is "available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations affected by the severe flood damage from Hurricane Ida from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, 2021." If this sounds like your business, find out how to apply at the link. (Patch)
- According to the CDC, Georgia has eight confirmed cases of monkeypox in the state. As federal officials are rolling out monkeypox vaccines, many may be wondering if they will be coming to Georgia. Earlier this week the Department of Health and Human Services stated that the initial 1,284 doses will first go to those that are most at-risk. The CDC does not recommend "widespread vaccination against monkeypox," Georgia Department of Public Health spokesperson Nancy Nydam said. (Patch)

Are you a Woodstock-Towne Lake resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
