Woodstock Welcomes New Community Development Director

Tracy Albers has joined the City of Woodstock as its new community development director.

WOODSTOCK, GA — Tracy Albers is joining the City of Woodstock as community development director, which was effective Jan. 18.

City leaders began the search for a new community development director in October 2021 when former community development director Brantley Day accepted a position with Cherokee County’s Community Development Agency. Albers brings over 16 years of planning and public policy experience gained in the Los Angeles metropolitan area to the role. Albers and her family relocated to the Atlanta area early last year.

The City of Woodstock Community Development Department is responsible for managing the current and long-term growth of the city through the administration of the zoning code and the comprehensive town plan. The community development director oversees 15 employees across the planning and zoning division, the land development office, the building department, code enforcement, and the development services office.

“I am honored and excited to have been selected as the city's next community development director,” Albers said. “I look forward to working with the City Council and Woodstock community to effectively advance city goals and initiatives and preserve its quality of life.”

Albers has served as the community development director for the City of Brea, California since March 2020. In her role with Brea, she oversaw similar divisions as well as the housing division and economic development. Prior to her work in Brea, she was a planning manager in San Gabriel and a senior planner in Pasadena and Burbank.

Albers received a bachelor of science in environmental studies and a masters in community and regional planning from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During her time in Nebraska, she worked for the City of Lincoln’s Parks & Recreation Department and Public Works & Utilities Department.

City Manager Jeff Moon said of Albers, “Tracy brings a world of experience with her to the job, and we are excited about her joining the city.”
