Woodstock Woman Died, Man Injured After Lake Allatoona Crash
A 47-year-old woman from Woodstock has died following a ski boat collided with a boat on Lake Allatoona on Saturday.

WOODSTOCK, GA — A 47-year-old woman from Woodstock died Saturday after she was involved in a boat crash on Lake Allatoona.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said in a news release that Cheryl Lynn Shephard, 47, was a passenger on a boat when it collided with a ski boat just north of Little River Marina about 1 p.m.
Shephard was taken to a hospital where she later died. The driver of the boat was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No one was injured on the ski boat.

The cause of this crash is still under investigation, the DNR said.
Shephard’s death is the first boating fatality on Lake Allatoona in 2019, the AJC reported. There also was a drowning this year that was ruled a suicide, according to the state agency.

In 2018, there were no boating fatalities and two drownings on Lake Allatoona, the DNR told the AJC.
