Worker Rescued After Becoming Trapped In Trench In Woodstock

The man was waterproofing a home's basement when he got trapped in a trench Saturday.

WOODSTOCK, GA — A man waterproofing a home's basement was rescued after being trapped in a trench Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded around 1:30 p.m. to Hilltop Lane, according to the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services Department. Fire officials said the man was buried up to his neck.

Cherokee County's Technical Rescue Team and the Trench Rescue Team from Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene.

Crews were able to remove the dirt from around the man, and he was given medical care while still trapped, fire officials said. He was monitored and was completely removed around 3:45 p.m., fire officials said.

He was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in stable condition, fire officials said.
