A kickoff event for the initiative will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 at Reformation Brewery.

Young Professionals of Woodstock is for residents between the ages of 18 and 40 who have an interest in learning new things, meeting new people and “cultivating skills for career enhancement,” the organization said.

The group is not only open to residents of Woodstock, but people from across the area. A $25 annual membership fee is required. However, if you’re a member of Main Street Woodstock, you can join the organization for free.

“As a young professional in Cherokee County, I came to the realization that there weren’t many organizations like this to take advantage of,” said city of Woodstock Tourism Coordinator Jenna Hill. “Some surrounding communities have young professional groups and we saw a need here in Woodstock. YPOW came out of that thought process, and with the help of other talented individuals, I believe it will become an asset to the community and may help retain young entrepreneurs in this area.”

Reformation Brewery is located at 500 Arnold Mill Road in Woodstock.
