1. Boise leaders want passenger rail back. Could Salt Lake Olympics make it happen? (idahostatesman.com) — Boise leaders are exploring how the 2034 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics could help bring at least temporary passenger rail service back through the Boise Depot on the old Pioneer Line. A new $500,000 federal grant will fund a two-year study of the Boise Cutoff from Caldwell to Mountain Home, data that could support longer-term rail connections to Salt Lake City.

What to know before you go: Hyde Park Street Fair Returns to Boise this weekend (kivitv.com) — Hyde Park Street Fair returns to Camel's Back Park this Friday through Sunday, bringing more than 200 local vendors, free admission, and expanded Sunday hours to Boise's North End. Organizers urge attendees to plan transportation carefully, using the Fort Street park-and-ride, shuttle, bikes, or scooters since parking in and around the park is limited.
   

3. Boise targets five areas for housing and business investment (kivitv.com) — Boise is seeking federal Opportunity Zone status for five key neighborhoods, potentially steering private investment into new housing, small businesses, and redevelopment without using city or state tax dollars. If approved for 2027, the long-term designation could reshape growth in Downtown, Shoreline, the University District, South Boise Village, and West Boise over the next decade.

From cover to collector: Boise Weekly Art Auction returns Oct. 8 (idahopress.com) — Boise Weekly is gearing up for its Oct. 8 Art Auction at JUMP, where 36 cover artworks by Boise-area artists will be sold to support both the creators and the free publication. With tickets required in advance, the evening offers food, live art demonstrations, and a chance to take home pieces inspired by Boise landmarks and Idaho's landscapes.
