Interfaith Sanctuary Shelter Home in Boise named National Women's Shelter Network Project of the Year (idahobusinessreview.com) — Boise's Interfaith Sanctuary Shelter Home has been named Project of the Year by the National Women's Shelter Network for its 24-hour, trauma-informed shelter model. The $12.9 million facility offers meals, medical care, recovery programs, workforce training, and family services, and was built through local philanthropy and advocacy that brought Boise's approach to homelessness to a national stage.
   

2. First Thursday set to reopen 8th Street block during downtown celebration (kivitv.com) — Downtown Boise's 8th Street south block is reopening this Thursday evening with a First Thursday celebration featuring live music, games, and vendors from 5–7 p.m. The city and Downtown Boise Association are highlighting new pedestrian-friendly spaces, accessibility upgrades, and a stamp-collecting field guide with prizes from participating 8th Street businesses.
   

3. The Idaho Humane Society's 34th Annual See Spot Walk goes to the dogs this weekend 🐾 (boisedev.com) — Boise dog lovers can hit Julia Davis Park this Saturday, Oct. 3, for the Idaho Humane Society's 34th annual See Spot Walk, featuring a one-mile stroll on the Boise River Greenbelt. With costume contests, fun races, and alumni pet parade, every step helps fund care and shelter for thousands of local animals in need.
   

4. ACHD wraps 2026 chip seal season, completing 322 lane miles across Ada County (idahonews.com) — Road crews have wrapped up this year's chip seal work and are shifting focus to a massive maintenance zone that includes key parts of Boise between the river and I-84. Next year's Preventative Maintenance Zone 1 project will bring chip sealing, fog sealing, and restriping to Boise, Garden City, and Meridian streets, meaning noticeable impacts for local drivers and neighborhoods.
   

5. Recall Alert: E. coli outbreak linked to raw milk cheese sold in nine states, including Idaho (boisedev.com) — If you shop at Albertsons in Boise or the Boise Co-op, you're being urged to check your fridge for recalled Sierra Nevada Graziers raw milk cheeses tied to an E. coli outbreak. While no Idaho illnesses are reported yet, health officials say the affected cheddar and jack varieties should be thrown away or returned, and any symptoms like severe diarrhea or vomiting warrant immediate medical attention.
