📰 News we're reading
• Turning history into a celebration: How the Trailing of the Sheep Festival revives the Wood River Valley's roots (boisedev.com) — Ketchum is gearing up for the 30th Trailing of the Sheep Festival, with hundreds of sheep set to parade down Main Street next Sunday and dozens of related events all week. The story traces how Ketchum grew into a major sheep center and how a conflict over bike paths and herding routes evolved into today's signature celebration of ranching culture and local history.
• A Quest for the Idaho Gem (Video) (bikepacking.com) — A pair of riders use Ketchum as their launchpad for the 250-mile Idaho Gem bikepacking route, stocking up on gear in town before tackling rugged singletrack, big climbs, and smoky valleys. Their loop eventually brings them back to Ketchum tired, proud, and celebrating with burgers and beers after days of crashes, mechanicals, and spectacular Sawtooth scenery.
