• University of Idaho opens new meat science lab for processing education (meatpoultry.com) — Moscow’s University of Idaho has opened a $17.5 million Meat Science and Innovation Center, greatly expanding local teaching, research, and meat processing capacity. The new facility, home to Vandal Brand Meats and modern classrooms, replaces an aging 1960s lab and supports Idaho’s fast-growing beef industry while honoring longtime manager Ron Richard. 
• SpaceX founding member Tom Mueller to keynote U of I Engineering Design EXPO (dailyfly.com) — Moscow residents can hear SpaceX founding member and U of I alum Tom Mueller speak at the Engineering Design EXPO this Friday, May 1, at ICCU Arena on campus. • Idaho lineman Nate Azzopardi earns NFL minicamp invites from Seahawks, Patriots (swxlocalsports.com) — Moscow football fans have a new reason to cheer: longtime Idaho Vandals lineman Nate Azzopardi has earned NFL minicamp invitations from both the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. The three-time captain capped his Vandal career with strong pro day numbers and All-Big Sky honors, becoming the second Idaho player this year to get an NFL shot.
