Nampa family files tort claim on behalf of teen shot by police (ktvb.com) — A Nampa family has filed a tort claim seeking up to $10 million from the City of Nampa after police shot and seriously injured their teenage son during a Halloween disturbance call. The filing alleges officers used excessive force, failed to de-escalate, and that the city did not properly train or supervise its police; no lawsuit has yet been filed.

Joanna Kay Mathson (columbiabasinherald.com) — Nampa readers may remember Joanna Kay Butchart Mathson, who was born here in 1943 and later attended Northwest Nazarene College before illness changed her path. Her life’s work as a cytotechnologist fighting cancer, deep Christian faith, and love for family and rescued cats are warmly recalled as relatives prepare to honor her at services in Moses Lake on May 2.
