Felon to pay $14K in restitution, faces up to five years in prison (rexburgstandardjournal.com) — A Madison County man was sentenced to two to five years in prison and ordered to pay nearly $14,000 restitution after leading police on a high-speed chase through Rexburg last May. Judge Steven Boyce cited the man’s long criminal history and probation status during the incident, while also acknowledging his mental health challenges and giving credit for 240 days already served.
   

2. A reunion 80 years in the making, two sisters, adopted as babies, meet for the first time (rexburgstandardjournal.com) — An 80-year search ended in Rexburg when longtime resident Carolyn Ard, 88, met her newly discovered sister Nancy Stewart for the first time at Homestead Assisted Living. Their families connected the dots through birth certificates and genealogy research, leading the Stewarts to travel from California to Rexburg so the sisters could finally share stories, family history, and a long-hoped-for bond.

New Stakes and Reorganized Stake Presidencies Announced in April 2026 (churchofjesuschrist.org) — Local Latter-day Saints in the Rexburg Idaho Henry’s Fork Stake have a new stake president, Shane Todd Wasden, a BYU–Idaho business faculty member, with counselors Daniel Ray Marshall and Martin Marcos Casariego Castro. 4. Medicaid contract is stalled after a lawsuit. Now, Idaho officials are delaying privatization. (newsfromthestates.com) — State Medicaid officials told lawmakers in Rexburg that a lawsuit over a major claims-processing contract will delay Idaho’s shift to privately run, comprehensive managed care until at least 2030. The judge’s temporary restraining order questions how the state awarded the contract, raising broader concerns about procurement rules while keeping more than $300 million in monthly Medicaid payments flowing under the existing system.
