"No child should ever have to experience violence or fear while simply walking down the sidewalk," said a city official, adding, "I also want to recognize and thank the bystanders who quickly intervened — helping to detain the suspect and get assistance on the way. Their quick actions may have prevented further harm."

Off-Duty Cop Shoots Pedestrian Twice, Fires At Group After Altercation: Police

Police said the off-duty cop stopped his car and talked to a group that was standing on the sidewalk before a man approached and punched him. The officer fired his gun at the man, hitting him twice, before shooting at the group, officials said.
