The National Weather Service warned of storms traveling through the Chicago area Thursday evening, bringing threats of destructive winds, large hail and tornadoes.

A tornado watch remained in place for the Chicago area until 9 p.m.

A severe storm warning was in place for southeastern Cook County until 9 p.m., affecting Calumet City, Chicago Heights, Lansing, Harvey, Dolton, Park Forest, Homewood, Matteson, Frankfort and Steger.
