IL Player Wins $1.04 Billion Powerball Jackpot

A single ticket sold in Illinois won Wednesday night's $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot, becoming the eighth-largest jackpot in Powerball history.

It's also the largest lottery jackpot won so far this year across the U.S.

The winning ticket, sold at a Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh gas station in Quincy, matched all six numbers—4, 26, 66, 67, 69 and Powerball 9. The Power Play multiplier was 2.

The winner will be able to choose to receive the prize in 30 annual payments over 29 years or a lump-sum payment of $450.5 million.

Powerball officials raised the jackpot for Wednesday night's drawing after stronger-than-expected ticket sales pushed the prize up from $975 million.

The last Powerball jackpot was won on May 2. Now, the jackpot will reset to $20 million for the Saturday drawing.

The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, according to lottery officials.

It's the third time an Illinois player has won the Powerball jackpot, and the second time that an Illinois lottery player has won a grand prize over $1 billion.

In July 2022, a ticket bought at a gas station in Des Plaines won a $1.34 billion Mega Millions jackpot—which remains the largest lottery prize ever won in Illinois.

It's also not the first time this year that an Illinois resident has won a massive jackpot. In March, a player dubbed "Lucky Lady" won $536 million after purchasing a Mega Millions ticket online through the Illinois Lottery's iLottery platform. It was the second-largest prize ever won by an online lottery player in the United States.

Other Big Lottery Wins In Illinois

In August 2017, a player won a $393 million Mega Millions jackpot in what was, at the time, the largest win in Illinois history. The winning ticket, sold at Nick's Barbecue, was purchased by a Palos Heights woman.

In June 2021, a Mega Millions player won $56 million at a Citgo gas station in Crestwood.

In June 2024, an iLottery player won $552 million, marking the largest prize ever won by an online lottery player in the U.S.

In March 2025, a ticket bought at a convenience store in Cortland won a $349 million Mega Millions jackpot.
