A 5-year-old boy was critically injured after being struck by a car while riding an electric scooter in Bridgeview, while a Skokie dealership employee died after a car fell on him.
Elsewhere, a Des Plaines woman died after being pulled from Lake Michigan near Grant Park, and another Des Plaines resident was killed in a motorcycle crash in Mount Prospect.
There was some good news mixed in, too: A Lemont High School senior earned a perfect ACT score, while a Chicago Ridge Mall community campaign wrapped up with a food drive, lemonade stand and prizes.

LHS Senior Earns Perfect Score On ACT — Lemont High School senior Ishan Samani earned a 36, the highest possible ACT composite score. He also has maintained a perfect GPA while participating in National Honor Society, robotics, varsity tennis and other activities.
Palos Hills Woman Sentenced For Role In Forging Opiate Prescriptions — Amani Ibrahim, 48, was sentenced to five years in federal prison for her role in a prescription-forging scheme that prosecutors said involved more than 149,000 doses of oxycodone and tens of thousands of other controlled substances.
