Target Recalls Potentially Life-Threatening Products From IL Stores
The wipes have been recalled due to potential bacterial contamination that could cause serious infections in infants and young children.
Parents and caregivers across the country are being urged to check their homes for certain Target-brand baby wipes that have been recalled due to potential bacterial contamination that could cause serious infections in infants and young children.
Target initially announced a voluntary recall last week of select Up & Up Fragrance Free Baby Wipes and Up & Up Fresh Cucumber Scented Baby Wipes after receiving customer complaints of product discoloration.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said its testing identified the presence of Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli bacteria in some samples.

Federal health officials said the bacteria pose the greatest risk to newborns, infants, young children and people with weakened immune systems. In vulnerable individuals, infections can spread into the bloodstream and potentially lead to life-threatening conditions such as sepsis or pneumonia.
The FDA also said healthy individuals may experience localized infections, skin irritation or eye irritation.
Target and the wipes' manufacturer have received reports of skin irritation, eye irritation and infections potentially associated with the products, though those reports remain under investigation by federal authorities.
The recall affects multiple package sizes of both fragrance-free and cucumber-scented wipes, according to the FDA. Consumers can identify recalled products by checking manufacturing and expiration dates listed on the packaging.
Target is advising customers to immediately stop using the recalled wipes and return them to any store for a full refund.
