Rain In Illinois Forecast Is 'Beneficial, Not Drought-Ending': National Weather Service

Weather will turn cooler and rainy on Sunday, and a chance of rain continues into early next week.

ILLINOIS — Warmer temperatures are expected on Friday and Saturday, before temps cool slightly as rain is possible on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday and Saturday will both be dry and sunny, with a high of 82 on Friday and a high of 86 on Saturday.

Air quality is better on Friday than it was on Thursday, with an air quality level of 55, which is "moderate," according to AirNow.Gov. In Indiana, poor air quality is expected through Friday night due to wildfire smoke.

Chances of rain begin to increase after midnight Saturday night into Sunday. Sunday will be cooler and breezy, with "beneficial rainfall, though not drought ending," the weather service said on Twitter.

There is also a rip current risk and high waves expected on Sunday.

AccuWeather gave a 91 percent probability of precipitation for Joliet on Sunday, and said .32 inches of rain was expected.

Temps will also remain cooler on Monday, which has a high of 73, and a chance of rain continues through Monday and into Tuesday. Temps in the 80s look to return by mid-week, according to the weather service.
