Damaging 60 MPH Winds Possible, Then Snow This Weekend For Chicago Area
A weather whiplash is on the way, as a high of 62 is expected Sunday, followed by a high of 26 on Monday.
A high wind warning has been issued for most of the Chicago area, starting early Friday as gusts up to 60 mph are possible, the National Weather Service shared.
The high wind warning is in effect for McHenry, Lake, Kane, DuPage, Kendall, Kankakee, Boone, DeKalb, La Salle, Lee, Ogle, Winnebago, Grundy, Cook and Will counties from 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
The weather service said these damaging winds can blow down tree limbs and power lines.

"Power outages are possible," the weather service said. "Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles."
Winds will be around 30 to 35 mph, but gusts up to 60 mph are expected. Winds will ease through late Friday afternoon, according to the weather service.

The weekend will bring a chance of rain and snow on Saturday, and rain again on Sunday.
There is also a chance of thunderstorms on Sunday, and some storms could be strong, according to the weather service.
The high for Sunday is 62 degrees, but a cold front will bring "much colder temperatures, strong northwest winds, and snow back to the area," the weather service said.
The high for Monday is 26 degrees.
The weather service said some snow accumulation, as well as blowing snow, is possible Sunday night into Monday.
