Rain To Start The Week, Cool Temps Expected For Chicago Area

Rain will continue at times to start the work week, before dry weather returns later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Cooler temperatures, mostly in the 60s and near 70 degrees, are expected all week, the weather service said. Rain chances are possible on Monday and Tuesday after several inches of rain fell in some areas over the weekend in the Chicago area.

The weather service shared some of the highest rainfall reports, including 4.63 inches in Sycamore, 4.6 inches in Rockford, 3.77 inches in Winthrop Harbor, 3.7 inches in Aurora, 3.42 inches inf McHenry, 3.23 inches in Lake in the Hills and 3.15 inches in Naperville.

High swim risk is also expected at Lake Michigan beaches through mid-week, according to the weather service.

MONDAY: Areas of drizzle before 8 a.m., then a chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 64. East northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. East northeast wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

TUESDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 64. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 54. Northeast wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 66. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 53.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 68.
