Sen. Dick Durbin Tests Positive For COVID-19 For Third Time In A Year

The 78-year-old Senate majority whip also had the virus in March and in July 2022.

Sen. Dick Durbin has tested positive for the coronavirus for the third time in a year, the legislator from Illinois disclosed over the weekend.

“Unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID-19 today,” the 78-year-old majority whip said Sunday in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Durbin said he was disappointed that he would miss work in Washington on the National Defense Authorization Act, but that he would quarantine at home while following the advice of his doctor and working remotely.

Durbin also had the virus in March and in July 2022. In both cases, he said his symptoms were minor and he noted he had been vaccinated and received boosters against the illness.
