Tornado Warning Issued For Kendall, Will And Grundy Counties

The weather service said a severe storm capable of producing a tornado was located near Morris, moving east.

A tornado warning has been issued for southeastern Kendall County, west central Will County and northeastern Grundy County until 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.

"This dangerous storm will be near Minooka around 3:25 p.m.; Joliet, Channahon and Shorewood around 3:30 p.m. and Crest Hill around 3:35 p.m. Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Crystal Lawns, Rockdale and Preston Heights," the weather service said.

Severe storms on Wednesday could bring damaging winds, large hail and possibly tornadoes to the Chicago area, with storm watches and warnings in effect.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Cook, DuPage, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties through Wednesday evening.

A severe storm warning is in place for Will, Cook and Grundy counties as well, including Joliet, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Channahon, Lockport, New Lenox, Lemont, Crest Hill, Homer Glen, Frankfort, Mokena, Oak Lawn, Alsip, Palos and Orland Park, until 4:15 p.m.

A severe storm warning is also in place for Kendall, Kane and McHenry until 3:45 p.m., including Elgin, Crystal Lake, St. Charles, Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, Geneva, Aurora, Plainfield, Oswego, Batavia, Montgomery and Cary.

The weather service said that a few rounds of severe storms are expected Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night.

"The main threat will be damaging to destructive winds with each round of storms," the weather service said.

The weather service advised having multiple ways to receive warning information. The most intense storms could produce destructive winds greater than 75 mph, as well as tornadoes.

Thursday will also bring severe weather to the area, and the period of highest concern is during the afternoon and evening.
