Sue Leston, of Plainfield, sent in this photograph she took of her daughter's 4-month-old golden retriever, Oakley. "We watch him twice a week, and he loves to play in our backyard," Leston tells us. "He has endless energy and is such a good boy."

Kurt Nelson, of Joliet, photographed Whirlpool, a native garter snake he's currently rehabbing. "She will be released back into the wild come spring," Nelson tells us. "The poor thing somehow got into my basement back in November, when she should have been hibernating. She was emaciated and very ill, but I'm happy to report she is now fat and very healthy."
