1 Dead In Crash Near Hampshire

Police say a 49-year-old Carpentersville man was killed in the single-vehicle crash.

HAMPSHIRE, IL — A 49-year-old Carpentersville man was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Hampshire Sunday morning, authorities said.

The collision happened at about 4:30 a.m. on Monday in the 44W300 block of US Highway 20 in unincorporated Hampshire, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Deputies first at the scene of the crash found a Honda Ridgeline against a tree and a man dead inside.

The man has been identified as Adrian Guzman-Vargas, 49, of Carpentersville.

Police say his vehicle was headed west on Highway 20 when it crossed the centerline and went off the road to the south, striking a tree. Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, according to the news release.
